For the past month or so I have been totally aware of every dream I have during my sleep. Each night will go a little something like this.
I will be dreaming of something that had a connection with a small thing that happened that day.
Then, I will start to talk in my sleep.
For example the other night I was dreaming that I was talking to a visiting friend. Suddenly I shot up from my pillow, and said, in my sleep, “How long are you staying in town for?” then, I imagined she said til saturday, and so I replied “Oh cool well we should hang out before then.”
Suddenly, I half woke up in that process of conversation, laughed at myself a bit for talking to myself in my sleep, and then said out loud, “I can’t believe Im talking, no one is here…Why am I talking in my sleep?” But as I said this I imagined saying it to my visiting friend.
Each night is a different rendition of me saying things to myself in my slumber, catching myself saying these things and telling myself I was dumb for doing it (in my sleep), and then in the morning remembering everything and realizing that was stupid of me.
It was a school morning and about 6:50 when I was dreaming I was in the movie The Little Mermaid. I was singing the song ”A Whole New World.” but I remember having a feeling of discourage while singing it. All the mermaids and fishes were grooving along with my beat but I felt something was wrong with my song. I just couldn’t put my finger on it. At 7:00 AM I awoke humming. Yes, I was humming in my sleep and when I woke up, I was still doing so. That feeling in my gut of knowing something was wrong dissapeared right away when I woke up because I realized that “Whole New World” was not a song that belonged in The Little Mermaid, but Aladin.
Also, at a sleepover with two of my friends the other night, I remember saying things like “I told you I talked in my sleep. Haha… talkin in my sleeeeep…talking right?” And then one friend, in her sleep as well, replied with a giggle (she is well known for laughing in her sleep), and the other friend next to me commented back with moan and said “why do you always..take blank….ets..??”

Yesterday my vocal ensemble group participated in a Jazz Festival in St. Helena. Each vocal group came up on stage and sang a couple of songs and then after their performance, got feed back from “The House Jacks.”
Later on, we all went to watch The House Jacks perform, and it was the most incredible show!
Here is a bit more about them.
The House Jacks of San Francisco are the original rock band without instruments. Using nothing more than their five voices (and mouths), they deliver everything from blistering funk to screaming rock to heart-melting ballads for their ever-growing legions of fans.
I had never before heard such great sounds come out of someones mouth. The guy on the bottom right (Wes) was the (drumless) drummer, and it was like he had a drumset in his mouth!
All of them were fantastic and hilarious when they asked for song suggestions from the audiance. They sang and made the beat to (unrehearsed) songs like “Thriller”, “Dancing Queen”, “Barbie Girl”, “Somewhere over the Rainbow”, “Solja Boy”(hilarious), “Bohemian Rapsody”, “Fallin”, and many others that were asked for.
It was fantastic.
They have traveled around the world and have appeared with Ray Charles, James Brown, Train, LL Cool J, the Neville Brothers, Bill Clinton, Crosby Stills and Nash, the Pointer Sisters, Live, Nia Peeples, Johnny Clegg, 5 Blind Boys of Alabama, Colin Powell, the Temptations, George Carlin, Pam Tillis, The Four Tops, The Gap Band, Tower of Power, Starship, Jon Secada, Run-DMC, and many others.
Go on i-tunes or Myspace or Facebook or their own website Housejacks.com to hear some of their tunes, and remember NO INTRUMENTS. But it’s not even close to how great it is actually watching them live.

Packing can be very fun. Organizing a section for your socks in one corner of your suitcase and your long sleeves in the other..But as you start to pile in your clothes you realize you need quite a lot more for five days. You think, it will be snowy when you’re there. So you throw in a fuzzy hat and scarf. And if there is a hot tub? You think, I will need a swimsuit. Oh yes, and no matter what weather, always bring sunscreen anyway. After packing your makeup bag, bringing absolutely every item of makeup you have because you want to have plenty of choices, you remember that you will need a few pairs of shoes. Which need a separate bag.Another bag is filled with snowboard gear googles, helmet, gloves, jumper, so as not to mix them with the regular clothes you brought. Shampoo and conditioner is packed along with some razors, bandaids, eye cream, face wash, toothbrush and allergy pills. And, when you think you might be done you remember the long car trip you will be taking to get to your destination.I-pod, kleenex, cell phone, chapstick, wallet, and mirror are all stuffed into your purse. Now, am i done? No, a birthday present must be packed for a friend who is going.A straightener is crammed into your suitcase and you can’t forget your huge fury jacket which will have to be carried because no way will it fit in any of your four bags. You are finished now, and are inspired to write a blog.
